AMIA 2012: Implementation of Queuing Technology in the Ambulatory Care Setting

ABSTRACT: A key component of clinic workflow management is queuing technology. Successful implementation and adoption of queuing can result in optimization of clinic resources and improvement to the overall patient's experience. To evaluate the effectiveness, workflow analysis was completed at an Army community hospital. Using a pre and post study design, we were able to demonstrate significant improvement in wait time in a pediatric clinic. Workflow lessons learned and costs savings were also evaluated.
